Oct. 28: A Better Day at the Mid-Atlantic Ridge

After replacing Jason’s port horizontal thruster, Jason was launched at 0630 today as we had a small and good weather window until 1730 hours. The 11 hour total dive went very well as we obtained both major and microbial mat samples.

It appears we have one more good weather window that starts in the morning on Monday, October 29 until early Tuesday, October 30. After that, the weather takes a turn for the worse and we doubt that we will have another Jason launch.

We keep watching the news about Hurricane Sandy, and the University of Delaware sends regular updates via e-mail. Good night and good luck these next days!
