Oct. 11: Arrival at the Azores

The team of 11 scientists arrived early Thursday morning at Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal. They were met by Dr. Paula Aguiar from the Department of Biology, Universidade dos Açores. After getting to their hotel, they spent the day touring the local area near the harbor where the R/V Knorr was docked. George Luther and a couple of students visited the RV Knorr and spoke with the ship’s captain, Kent Sheasley, and the ROV Jason expedition leader, Tito Collasius.
